I ended up manually forcefully extending the drawers to the point where they stopped, not wanting to break anything. The end result was that all drawers extended to precisely the same extended length. Otherwise, all along, they were somehow just stopping where they caught, each with their own extended lengths. I didn't go to the lengths that you did in this video.

I JUST PUT MY ALEX TOGETHER & IN SECONDS FOUND OUT A VERY EASY HACK!! 👉
I will tell you an even EASIER, QUICKER & ZERO STRESS IDEA without disassembling and basically breaking your IKEA hardware. as a matter fact, it saves you time putting this together rather than taking more time because there's some screws to will NOT be adding on!

Just DO NOT put on the 2 tiny screws that go on the "inside" of each drawer! ~ THAT'S IT!!! Now the drawers will fully extend! (It will feel different when you pull out the drawers, but this works!)

NOTE:
I'm only using my Alex for beauty products, nothing heavy. So this may not work for those putting heavy things inside!

I wouldn't do this if you have heavy stuff in your drawers, that cheap metal will just end up bending.

She chicks bricks: thanks for responding but guess what I figured it out.I pulled the rail out really hard and it slid out and then I realized I had some kind of grease like stuff on my hands and realized it ball bearings just needs some grease or silicone stuff. So I looked up what kind would work and it’s coming tomorrow. So if your drawer sliders don’t slide spray them or rub silicone or wax on the rails where the ball bearings are….thank for listening…

One of the things I love about the Alex drawers is how wonderfully smooth they slide and close. Does removing those second bearings cause it to lose some of that silky smooth closing action?

mine stay in with one straw about half way in the drawer so I just took that screw out and they open all the way, even come out.

Poor solution because you are gutting the slide and destroying its structural integrity. A much much better (and far easier!) solution is to turn the screw hole in the drawer into a 4" slot. put some food safe grease in the drawer glide slot. when you put the screw back in, use threadlock because you can't tighten it all the way down. Now when you pull the drawer out and the drawer slide reaches its limit, the drawer can continue to move an addition 4" because of the slot you cut. The best part of this solution is that it is reversable should you decide you don't like it Just tighten the screw at the original hole location).

What are the inner dimensions of the drawers? I can only find the outer dimensions on IKEA's website.

Hi I want to ask your husband why my slider is stuck and the drawer won’t open all the way. Not what your husband is doing to open it all the way but just to get it to open at the manufacture opening. I can’t figure out why both sliders are stuck on both sides of the drawer. Oh this is only 10 months old and IKEA said they don’t sell sliders and there is no warranty on the Alex drawers. I just can’t believe they don’t sell these and you’re just out. So, I, thought maybe your husband knows why they won’t work right. Thank you
