Audi SQ5 2020 review

Is Audi's fast SQ5 a better performance crossover than the BMW X3 M40i and Mercedes-AMG GLC 43? To find out, we'll be taking a drive in this very bright Turbo Blue SQ5 3.0T on Australian backroads. The SQ5 is the fastest version of the SQ5 yet, since Audi don't build an RS Q5… but should they? Maybe! In this video, a review of the 2020 Audi SQ5, Tom drives this Audi SUV, looking into its dynamics, comfort, practicality and value for money.

I really love the matte materials in these pre facelift Audi models. I think the new A3 and these older models hit the sweet spot for infotainment/hvac controls. Large touchscreen and physical aircon controls. Great review as always Tom!

This touchscreen refresh for a4/a5 based cars is a disaster imo. For starters the screen was never placed in a position to be used as a touchscreen, it’s set too far back. But more importantly, the whole value add of Audi over the other Germans is the tactile feel in all the switchgear, and going to touchscreen you’re removing the constant daily interaction with the scroll wheel and surrounding buttons (even worse in a6/7 as they’ve removed all the hvac knobs/buttons too)

A real colour for a change love this but I’d have the S4 Avant for sure. Agreed need input into touch screens from hard buttons due to our rough urban and suburban roads. Now I also had an idea for a future review to fill in our time whilst physical distancing - would love to see Nathan P do a road test and review of his Peugeot 404 on the channel if possible just to keep us entertained 👍 Great work Tom and good to see rain in Sydney

Definitely a good all around machine, nice performance and practicality. They’ve released the 3 litre diesel SQ5 along side the petrol one which might be interesting. I’ve seen artists impressions of the updated Q5 and they’re claiming there might be a Sportback version which looked pretty slick along with an attractive facelift providing the artwork was accurate.

Great video Tom. The tech on the current Sq5 is a little old now when compared to the BMW X3 …but hopefully the Tdi due later this year will come with updated dash and tech features🤞. I’ve had both a diesel sq5 and petrol and the diesel was incredible!

I'm having trouble deciding beween the SQ5 TDI 2018 and the previous X3 30d 2017 (can't afford the latest model). Which one would you advise? Most reviewers say the X3 is more a "drivers car". Is the difference that noticeable?

Great video! We have an sq5 diesel on the drive here in belgium!doesnt sound as good but it has some more torque and i absolutely love to drive it aaand you get almost 920km on a tank if you drive it “normally” (which is hard”

How would you compare it to an XC60 T6 or T8 polestar? Second hand these are cheaper.
