In 1339, in response to the news that Florence was about to construct a cathedral larger than theirs, the building committee of Siena Cathedral decided to build the largest church in Christendom! Within 9 years, the structure was nearly completed, but then the Black Death brought the entire project to a halt. Discover what became of this new cathedral or "Duomo Nuovo" in my latest video.
