From my part, my master told me that screams are about self-confidence, scaring the enemy and also a way to breathe out the CO2 your body produces during hard training.

In judo as well, we were taught to scream at the top of our lungs

because all the pent up anger from getting beaten with a stick bursts out during the performance

My karate Sensei told me that I should scream or make noise when doing a punch or kick or movement or sweep.

It's like a battle cry but you repeat it on every goddamn move.

It helps ingage you muscles. If you do that right your core can be activated even when in a lengthen position. There for you lower and upper body will be more connected leading to more power

My master taught me it was practice for tightening your stomach muscles. In order to defend from any punches or kicks to the gut as you're fighting.

That's why Goku and other DBZ characters scream.

I was doing this Zen style Karate a while back and we where taught this as a Kiai. Sensei said this was for intimidation, yes, but also it helped tensen up musclegroups in your core for more stability and more explosive motions.

Same thing in Taekwondo. You're basically taught to yell to help release more energy, to let yourself go more.

Same in Taekwondo, my master would dock our routines if we weren’t putting our energy into our voice. “We begin an end our training with complete silence, but when we’re on the mat I want you to sound like you’re fighting for your life”

I have been boxing most of my life and every trainer has reinforced the idea thaf we should be screaming at the top of our lungs as often as possible during a match. Tournaments are terrifying for outsiders because of the blood curdling screams.

It also helps if your actually in a fight so that when you perform a move that leaves you open your core is tense so your internal organs don’t get damaged

There is a reason that we keep quiet when fighting. As a Cherokee, we are taught to be deadly ☠️ but quiet 🤫. I really enjoy your channel. 👍

Funny enough when I learned mixed martial arts my master taught me to be quiet because the most dangerous apex predators don’t make sound to alert their prey and those that do scream or make exaggerated grunts do it as a form of intimidation because they are weaker than you.

They taught us that in taekwondo too, we’d be made to repeat forms until we let out yells during, it really did make us feel more confident and strong

Your insight is a treasure. Guys im telling you this is worthy of taking notes. It reminds me of that scene in 300 the movie where they make mention of the dispelling of mysticism and superstition. Ranton your so needed
