Elbows are tricky. He probably had another mri with contrast into the joint. The UCL tear (if there is one) is probably subtle. They can be hard to pick up on MRI. (I read this stuff for a living.) I'm guessing the surgery is half exploratory...he put off having the elbow opened to get a definitive answer until after the season was over. Clearly the right call. Big picture, might not even need a ligament repair. We'll see. Point being, these things take time, and in grand scheme of things, a two weeks 'delay' is nothing for a decision like this. Worse case I'm guessing is he can't get back until June, maybe July. Might still make it back for opening day, fingers crossed.
