Also try to build staircases at 2 ends, it's fairly easy and look more realistic, basically you have to build a way for your minifigs to past from car to car and access both decks (even if imaginary). Real double decker cars all have staircases at both ends except Amtrak. Finally try to build doors into the car's ends or on the lower deck (can be complete with DIY stickers depict doors)

it s like each wagon is a hotel room!
have you considered pro scale 8' wide next?
semis are 6' wide, it scales a little better to go to 8'.
