Where it all started... Nostalgic! Just returned to this after the episode with John Vervaeke, and boy has Lex come a long way. Way to go.

What a fantastic interview - in every single way. Deep, compassionate, tech philosophy at its finest.

Max Tegmark and his book Life 3.0 single-handedly made me go into Computer Science to learn the foundations of Artificial Intelligence. Thank you Mr. Tegmark!

Max is so deep that when he speaks, we can hear slight music from parallel universes in addition to his wisdom! 🤷‍♂️

I started off with random podcasts of yours in the 200 & 300's. Your interviewing skills have really improved immensely since this first podcast, keep up the good work!

“I don’t think we should try to found our self-worth on some sort of bogus claims of superiority in terms of our intelligence. I think we should instead find our calling and the meaning of life from the experiences that we have.”

+42:42
“When you and I were both two years old, our parents were much more intelligent than us, right? Worked our okay, because their goals were aligned with our goals. And that I think is really the number one issue we have to solve, value alignment.”

Deep, wise and beautiful!

I love the joy that radiated in him when you asked him which was his favorite equation ❤ such small things that can tell so much about a person.

It's interesting to hear this conversation after hearing the last conversation with Max. Max's ideas and arguments, even the words he uses to answer the questions are pretty much the same today as they were back then. Also, Lex's style does not seem to have changed much at all. It really speaks to his honesty as an interviewer. Love you more every day <3

The birth of one of my two favorite podcasts, the other being the Joe Rogan Experience. JRE is my go to for a diverse perspective of the full spectrum of human experience, and LF is my go to for a focused deeper understanding of the human brain and psyche. as well as the future of AI and augmented technology

Every time I hear Max Tegmark and/or Lex Friedman speak, I hear music. Thank you for your focus on engineering and how it relates to our predicament as vulnerable, feeling human beings. Powerful.
