I've got an original vynil of this album handed down from my older brother. He painted the ceiling in his bedroom purple at the time. 😂

Highway Star, to me, doesn't get as much love as it should. It is one of the best car songs. Of course, the best part is Ritchie and Jon competing with each other, racing down the highway and changing gears on every turn. Damn, I love this song.

Machine Head is one of the GREAT records of the classic rock era.

Call me crazy, but shouldn’t the 50th anniversary of Machine Head have been released 2 years ago…..in its actual 50th anniversary year. <shrugs>

I prefer the Roger Glover remix (more clarity, more space), the Dweezil Zappa version feels a bit dense and overproduced to my taste... They (Roger Glover) should do a remix of Fireball and In Rock.🤘😎

It’s awful!
The fact that Frank Zappa is mentioned in the lyrics doesn’t make his son can do a proper remixing. Toying around with things can’t control obviously. Too much echo, vocals are more in the background and ‘ new found ‘ elements are way too loud in the mix. Much less powerful than the SACD mix. Missed opportunity; Steven Wilson would have done it much better. The 1971 concert CD is a minor bootleg. Very disappointing this one!

Great review as always, love this album and the band were on fire during this time, nearly quite literally, the live 72 stuff I've had for a while now on double album, its very meaty and raw, I love to hear what the've done with the 5.1 and Atmos mixes, love the use of the words bollocks and organ in the same sentence really gets the point across, think I must part with my money for this piece of rock history.

I have a picture disc of Machine Head . Came with a poster of Blackmore unfortunately I no longer have the poster, bought it at the record store I worked at in the 80's. This set looks awesome!

Please restore portion of review where shrink-wrap is returned to original placement and condition. A very valuable skill.

Video idea: Ten out of print albums/catalogues that need to be reissued.

Thank you for sharing. I will be purchasing. 7 when it was released, but had my older brother rocking it for me. Great memories.

I love that album! The best one they ever did. Still, I do not want new re-mixes of classic rockmusic. I want to hear the music as it sounded historically.

I wonder which solos they used for 'Highway Star' and 'Lazy'. Many years ago I was surprised when I heard the different versions between the SQ mix and the later releases.

lf you're hearing" Machine Head " it's for the first time it's stunning . lf you're hearing it for the 100th times it's still a mindblower . lf you've heard it countless times it's still a brilliant album . Yet of all their albums" ln Rock" is the best album they ever created . Up there with Black Sabbath's debut as one of the best heavy Rock albums ever along with Led Zeppelin' first . All three are timeless .

I have pre-ordered my copy. I've been a Purplehead since I received "Fireball" in 1970 for my 16th birthday. Nothing they do goes unnoticed by me, even though I'm almost 70. Great Review !!

I hope this is available without the vinyl, because I haven't bought an LP since Michael Jackson's BAD back in the 80s, and I'm not about
to start buying them again.

Whose bright idea was it to give Dweezil Zapper the keys to the kingdom? He’s made a complete bollocks of this, obviously faced with the paradox of choice which buttons to press on the mixing desk. Lots of detail lost in an orgy of echo and overdubbed noise. Yes we know it was recorded just an empty hotel, we just don’t need to hear it echoing down every corridor. This should have gone back to Martin Birch and Roger Glover to remix on modern equipment

So awesome! Appropriate you’re wearing AC/DC for Deep Purple. One of the greatest albums of all time. As Ian says at the end of smoke, break a leg Frank. It doesn’t get any better for a remix. Hearing new sounds in songs you know by heart. And I thank you.

Thanks for showing us each pages from the booklet. I'm a Tidal listener and they offer this edition in their playlist, but it is mentioned that "the record company does not authorize the playback of these titles." I hope, in some time, the house will authorize it. Let's think this way!

Machine Head is for me one of the best rock records of all time with Led Zep: 2, 4, PG; ACDC: Back a black; Van Halen: 1; Pink Floyd: DSOTM, WYWH, Animals; and a few other records.

Please do detailed SOUND reviews where the recording of each instrument/voice is analyzed carefully.
