Scientists discover true source of gamma-ray burst?
It hasn’t been that long since we’ve talked about gamma ray bursts. In a recent episode we looked at what might happen to the Earth if a gamma ray burst were to hit us, and one thing was true, it was terrifying. But what scientists have uncovered may solve that mystery once and for all.
These immense explosions are simultaneously some of the brightest phenomena in the known universe, and the source of most of the gravitational waves we’ve detected here on Earth.
While scientists have had a decent idea of what causes these bursts of energy, they haven’t been totally sure. Meaning that the sources of these explosions have remained a great mystery.
Well, at last, we finally have confirmation of what causes GRBs thanks to researchers at the Australian National University in Canberra.
And the answer may surprise you.
