It's Gotta Last Forever BILLY J KRAMER with THE DAKOTAS

This was 1965 ... and the tidal wave that had been "the Mersey Sound" was beginning to ebb in favour of the "earthier" sound of The Rolling Stones, The Kinks and The Animals. This great ballad was Billy's first release of that year, an a-side which failed to chart, despite the confident sound of the Dakotas backing him. (The name "Lynch" appears on the writing credits, so I suspect our dear Kenny Lynch had a hand in the writing.) He followed it up with "Trains and Boats and Planes" which made #12 here in the UK but would prove to be his last chart hit.

Hard to believe this gorgeous tune wasn't a hit at the time. Now fifty odd years on it sounds just beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
