Dark Deception is a indie horror game that has been conquering the hearts of many Horror YouTubers over the past few years. I have to admit that I was not very impressed when I saw the first chapter with the monkeys and the hotel. It looked more like YouTube bait with lots of jump scares and frantic gameplay. But I am happy that I finally took the plunge so many chapters later and absolutely fell in love with this gem of a game! What makes it so good and awesome is that each level has their own twist, flavor and unique mechanics to keep the experience varied.
You can see how the developers gained more experience over time as each chapter is better than the previous one. The upgrading mechanics are very useful and offer great motivation to keep playing. The background lore is also very interesting and hints at a deeper meaning of all the levels. Overall, this is yet another example why one should not judge a book by it's cover. Though initially I thought it was a simple first-person Pac-Man simulator, the end result was so much more, and I absolutely adore it.
The only thing I had some problems with is that the game is quite buggy, especially towards the end chapters. I hope to see a patch in the future that goes back to the previous chapters and irons those out.

This game is a solid 9/10 horror game. Its only flaw is that it needs a bunch of glitches and creases in some particular parts ironed out in the future, but compared to triple-A "horror" launches, Dark Deception is a master at the art of videogame horror.

You're so good at this that we basically never get a glimpse of the things chasing you. Feel like that actually takes away from the experience lol. This is almost like watching a trainer complete a level.

I really cannot wait to find out how Glowstick Entertainment will recreate all these chapters in Super Dark Deception. I never got to play the original Dark Deception because I have a very low-end computer that most likely won't be able to run the game itself, but I'm looking forward to seeing how the devs continue Super Dark Deception and make the mannequin level! (For Dark Deception, obviously)
