Well Puzzled. The whole point of DTOSS is you designated a target from a safe distance visually or using the TPOD not the radar, then dive down for speed (=Range) and terrain masking, then pull up to 'toss' the bomb to gain range and toss over terrain whilst remaining masked from air defences. This was for unguided iron bombs, or for LGBs being buddy lased from a safe distance. After release you turn away before the air defences get a LOS/Lock on you. The main difference between DTOS and CCRP is the visual rather than Radar designation and under the covers the way the weapons computer calculates the target range and the release cue. Like CCRP using DTOSS for level bombing as shown in the video would be suicide against a SAM or AAA defended target. A DTOSS video needs to show the TOSS otherwise its pointless?.

DTOS is a good way to use if you want to designate LGBs and iron bombs with the HMCS. VIS mode does not work for those weapons.

I used this all the time in Falcon 4. It was typically the easiest way to get iron on the ground. It worked a little different in Falcon 4 though.
