Aurora From Space | Best space videos from NASA and the ISS
Показать описание
The sight of the Earth's aurora from space is one of the most stunning views of our planet. Visible thanks to the efforts of the crew of the International Space Station (ISS), these incredible images were unimaginable just a few decades ago.
The aurora is caused by solar winds buffeting against our atmosphere. The ionised particles flowing through the electromagnetic field around our planet begin to glow in beautiful colours, creating these mesmerising lights in the sky. This same field, known as the magnetosphere, protects us from harmful radiation from the sun and other sources throughout our solar system.
The International Space Station is a site of great scientific significance. Astronauts from across the globe conduct research which expands our understanding of the planet we live on, as well as discovering how different objects and processes respond to a zero gravity environment. However, it is perhaps equally important as a symbol of international cooperation and a source of inspiration. The scientists on board conduct experiments designed by schoolchildren across the globe, maintain communications with amateur radio enthusiasts and even perform social media stunts, all to educate people about space and sustain our collective fascination with growth and scientific development.

Sent Into Space are the Near Space experts.
We use lighter-than-air gas balloons to travel to the upper stratosphere into Near Space, where you can see the curvature of the Earth (Flat Earth believers need not reply!), the black vacuum of space and the thin blue line of the Earth's atmosphere on the horizon.
This is more than just a GoPro on a weather balloon. We build a bespoke launch vehicle for each flight utilising the latest in camera technology and long-range radio and satellite communications. We film HD video of the Earth from space for stunning images of the curvature of the Earth.
