I feel you on the depression bro, im the same. As soon as something goes wrong not matter how small i first thought instantly is " fk it im just going to end it today". I play the guitar that really helps me switch off.

You have given really good advice here so i hope all your subs watch this video.

I’m here for and with you, Brother. First, let me thank you for this video and all your other ones; your videos started my path on shou sugi ban and now I’ve made several pieces.
As to this video, I’m going through a funk myself - I’m redefining and reinventing myself after figuring out that my career path no longer fits the life I want. I’ll have to try your accountability mirror method. Time for change.

Thanks for being this open. Honestly. As to the opener question, not that well. I've never heard of "tip 3" but I have tried the first 2 before, so I'll look more into the last one.

0:55 I just wanted to say thank you for sharing about your depression, normalizing it, taking the shame out of it, very brave of you. You are appreciated.

I feel you. I've suffered from anxiety and depression for my whole life. I also found keeping the mind busy on other things that are productive. Keep up all the great work you do.

Hi Nick, I have suffered with depression since I was 12, I am now 48 and taking sertraline but every now and then I get deep depressive episodes, it's like a big dark cloud, normally I'm a fun happy person but when it it hits it hits hard and I can't even function as the same person, I can't understand life and what the point is but then suddenly over a period of time I'm myself again, it sucks but thanks for the video x

Social media and mental health have never been a good pair. You made it to the couch! That IS better than bed. If you are doom scrolling, you are still alive and trying and I am proud of ANYONE for keeping themselves alive. It helps me a lot to tell myself that safe spot is going to be there when I get back. You got this and I am so with you to celebrate your goals. You are so creative, and you know it's true because this stranger online said so lol.

I just wanted to say if you ever need to talk about your struggle, I can relate. You are a wonderful content creator that I have learned some tips from. I believe that social media is creating some of this depression. Working out is what has helped my depression. 😂 You said "shit on their lawn."

Thanks for your openness and Honesty. Also thanks for tackling a subject that most people, but especially men, have an issue talking about.

I'd also like to point out that your analogy about being on the computer, or phone, and losing yourself is also a component of ADHD, of which I also struggle with.

Best of luck, my GF bought me a book of bible verses for each day. And I listen to Christian music and I’m no where close to being a religious guy lol but the words are positive and some have hit the right spot to where it made me 🥹. Best of luck and know you’re not alone as most of us are dealing with the same.

You rock! Thanks. Tips are good. Depression is tough. Sometimes I can feel myself on the slippery slope. And it’s ugly!! One thing
I would like to offer to your lists. Cut out sugar in foods you eat. Sugar is in most things unfortunately. Sugar causes depression. Keep it up. I do enjoy your videos!! I’ve learned new things from you. So don’t stop!

That’s what I love about you, Nick. You’re not afraid to say it out loud. ❤ I need to do the focus mirror too. Re drinking, what I do is for lent (nice defined time period) I don’t drink at home. I don’t go crazy while we’re out because I’m driving (BF’s car needs a mechanic visit). If I have, say a shot before bed, I have to put $5 into the charity jar. I think last year I had like $30 for charity. I discovered Fre Chardonnay is pretty good.

Thank you for this! I feel you man. This is good stuff, I went through depression last year for the first time and basically stayed in my bed for two months. It was a horrible feeling!
