My hubby and I just did our first mediterranean in August from Australia we had a night in Dubai to break up the trip and 3 days in Rome before cruise great decision no problems with flights we took the train down to Citivicca not sure of spelling we did book some tours in advance and some on the ship ( NCL Viva ) we had no tenders either, we had cash and card no issues at all, our cruise was 10 days we choose it for the ports not the ship had no idea it was a new ship, we did have an unlimited drinks package but we had only booked in feb this year so the fare was half price and the drinks package came with the fare, I think we did ok since the only cruise we had done was P&O back in 2009 in Australia and a balcony was great my only point if you do happen to go on the Viva and not in haven dont bother going in the pool there is only one too small and packed

Great tips!Will definitely revisit them when we do Med Greek Isles next year. We got the Plus pkg on Princess (will be our first time with them) as it was only about $1000 CAD difference from their standard fare & it includes drinks, some extra dining, wifi, gratuities & more.Probably wouldn’t get the drink pkg otherwise on this itinerary, agree 100%.

Definitely some really solid pointers there guys. I have a ten night cruise booked at the tail end of the season (1st-11th Nov) and there are some great advantages to this.

It's a little cooler, it's definitely quieter, for 7 of the ports we are the only ship in town.

One tip for anyone travelling to Europe, if you're going to get cash out, do it from a proper bank ATM - DO NOT TOUCH EURONET ATMS. They are a privately owned network which have absolutely horrendous fees and exchange rates.

Lastly, I'd agree it's super worthwhile having data when ashore. Fortunately my plan from the UK (and those of most Europeans) will include the ability to use your plan anywhere in Europe but for those of you coming from abroad an ESIM is definitely worthwhile if your phone is compatible. I've used Airalo in Asia previously and would 💯% recommend as well.

Great tips and awesome job on putting this together. This is exciting as we are going on the same ship and cruise in a month. Were you able to use esim from the ship or just on land? I was wondering if I could cancel my ship wifi. Unfortunately, we are not diamond yet. Looked for your sandels on Shein and didn't find them but love them!
