U.S. Senate JD Vance interview following Trump endorsement

We sat down with U.S. Senate candidate J.D. Vance after he was endorsed by former President Donald Trump last week.

In a statement Trump said, "I’ve studied this race closely and I think J.D. is the most likely to take out the weak, but dangerous, Democrat opponent—dangerous because they will have so much money to spend."

In the one-on-one interview with Dayton 24/7 Now's Chelsea Sick Vance said Trump actually called him.

"He told me why he was endorsing me and why he thought I was the best candidate to beat Tim Ryan and obviously I was thrilled to have it," Vance said.

Tim Ryan tweeted on Friday, speaking out against the endorsement. In the tweet he said, "We're beating J.D. Vance in the polls by one point. But we're expecting this endorsement to bring a new wave of outside money and attacks," Ryan said. He then asked his supporters for donations.
