Greek Rice Pudding - Rizogalo

Rizogalo, is a traditional Greek rice pudding ( 'Rizo' means rice and 'galo' means milk), flavoured with cinnamon.
Its creamy, comforting and tastes delicious warm or chilled!
Try this recipe...its very easy to make and I am sure you will love it!

Ingredients
250 g glutinous rice (e.g. arborio/risotto rice)
500 ml water
500 ml milk (I used semi skimmed)
400 ml heavy/double cream
180 g granulated sugar
2 cinnamon sticks
Tip: Optional to add to the above mixture - 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract

Ground cinnamon for sprinkling on top of the rice puddings.
Total cooking time - 40/45 minutes but always check your rice is cooked.

We call it in turkey "sütlaç" and it means milkyfood. Im amazed how our culture mixed together. I almost understand every word in your food names. For example portakal, biftek, ıspanak, patates, lahana etc.
