Director Quentin Tarantino took to the streets of New York to join a group of activists in a march against police brutality. Now the New York Police Department is asking for people to boycott Tarantino’s films.

I think NYPD is being disrespectful and not acknowledging that there are wrongful deaths by police officers. Tarantino is one of the best directors of all time, and I would never boycott entertainment even if the person didn't agree with me on certain issues. I have Bill O'Reilly's books at my college. I can't stand him, but I am not going to start a boycott over him.

If I was an NYPD officer, I would of cringed if I heard that there was a call to boycott Tarantino movies. With a distinct lack of trust and hatred towards them from a large section of the community, I am at a loss to imagine how they can possibly have the support of the people. In fact, I for one will continue to see his films. Not because I am a fan of Tarantino films (I am), but as a protest against the police. I can imagine Tarantino sitting down, rubbing his hands and saying "THANK YOU".

No, NYPD doesn't have the right to protest. It's not a private organization. It's a state-owned, tax-paid organization with particular duties and obligations.
Individual police officers can express political opinions all day long. The Police as an organization can not.
