Just wait till those flat orbiters start commenting...

they're scared of me, they know if they step out of line I'll crack them back into place.

This was legitimately a surprise to me when I first found this out. I had always assumed the flat plane the planets are shown on in images was for artistic purposes, to make it easier to see each of the planets. I figured they probably rotated the sun in whatever plane. This is neat to find out more about.

It's because the Sun is so important that the World literally revolves around it.
Such an arrangement does not happen by accident. You have to planet.

It's cheaper to be on the same plane.

This is a giant conspiracy. The solar system is round

1:54 "Became Earth and the other 7 planets."
Wait... that only makes 8 planets...

*I KNEW IT!* Mars always seemed like it definitely couldn't be a planet! I was right all along!

Flat earthers probably think the solar system is spherical.

Wow! A discussion of angular momentum that didn't use the figure skater example. Impressive.

Been expecting the ubiquitous:  "That's wrong, the planetary orbits are not that round"!

Thank you for explaining this! I have wondered for a while, but didn't want to ask the question. Great visuals and, of course, super enjoyable video to watch. Love you guys at SciShow!

Let's be honest, the comments are gonna get in a discussion about Pluto's planethood (or lack thereof) really soon...

Great video! I've heard other explanations, but this one made much more sense. Keep up the great work!
