Liz Truss pledges to 'transform Britain' in first speech as UK prime minister – BBC News

Liz Truss has delivered her first speech after being appointed as the UK’s new prime minister.

Speaking outside Number 10 Downing Street, Ms Truss said she was “honoured” to “take on this responsibility at a vital time for our country”.

The new PM said she would announce a plan to tackle spiralling energy costs later this week.

12 years Liz Truss has been a Conservative Party MP, and it's only now that she feels she is able to 'transform Britain'. If that was your plan, why has it taken so long, and when can we expect to see the results??

When she said in another speech that the British conservatives are the "greatest political party on Earth" I was so shocked... that's not politics, that's a cult. Also, tax cuts, my beloathed. I have very low expectations of her. I wish all British people strength in these trying times.

We all know about "the wonderful job" BoJo did as PM. His only chance to salvige some of his reputation, if any left, is that the next PM to be even worse than him. From what I have seen so far, Liz Truss is perfect for the job. I won't be surprised if BoJo orchestrated the so called "election" of LT. She had no chance against any of the other candidates, but mysteriously they all dropped out of the contest.... She's been in government for quite a while now and I have seen nothing from her so far but mediocracy and total lack of principles.... Well, let's see what's next....
