I would recommend meetups and tech talks and get to know speakers from various companies. Technical exchanges of any type are good ways to meet people in the tech community and they also are good ways for you to show your interest and abilities in technologies. Make an effort to meet people at these talks. The communities many times are tight knit, it's amazing how much you can learn interacting in these events.

Hi, I just found your channel and you give great tips! I’m actually a highschool senior going to college next year to pursue computer science. Do you have any tips on what I could do between then and when I start college to better set me up for internships such as google step or any in generall? I feel like I could definitely utilize this summer in a way that would get me far, I’m just unsure what exactly I should do.
