Power Outlet Not Working - Easy Fix

Показать описание
If a power outlet or light switch in your house randomly stopped working, there are a few things you can check before calling out an electrician to see why your power stopped working. I go over how to check and reset a circuit breaker, how to check and reset a GFCI outlet, and to look for visible defects on bad outlets. Luckily for most people this turns out to be an easy fix.

Thanks a lot. You saved me from a lot of unnecessary costs associated with calling an electrician. In my case, it was a GFCI that tripped but it was no way near the receptacle that suddenly stopped working. The GFCI that tripped was about 150 feet away in the garage while the bad receptacle was in the patio. Thanks again for this very helpful video.

THANK YOU! It was my GFCI. Been without electricity in half my kitchen for almost a year and decided to fix it. All it took was a 3 minute YouTube video. 😂

I wish I could like this video a million times! I had outlets with reset buttons spread across the house and it turns out that when I reset one of them the other around it worked!

As a single woman who lives alone and doesn’t have anyone to help with stuff like this…Thank you! You helped me fix it. ❤

Thanks for your precise video. I too had a few switch and outlets not working. I checked first each outlet and most were working. But I had not thought about hitting the reset button on the GFCI outlets. And of course, the culprit was outside in the patio. Once I opened it's cover, I could see a red light awaiting the reset. As soon as I reset that, all is working fine. Thanks for your great step by step! Keep up the great work!

Thanks for the tips about outlets not working. Your tip about checking the GFCI outlet not in pxomity to the outlet that failed to provide service was the answer. The GFCI involved was all the way across the kitchen from the non-working socket. I reset the GFCI and, presto, it restored power the outlet that was not working. I bet you saved a couple of hundred dollars because my electrician charges $90 just to knock on the door. Thanks again!

Thank you so much. My deck outlet stopped working and I had no idea why. Your suggestion to check unassociated GCFI outlets led me to a tripped outlet which I reset and it fixed the issue. Thank you for saving me from calling someone out for a very simple fix.

Thank you 4 hours of going between electrical panel outside and bathroom upstairs- who would have thought that resetting gfci in the bathroom downstairs would solve it! I’m so grateful for your advice today

you saved me- thanks! Would never have thought I'd need to check/trip a different GCFI outlet without watching your video.

Thank you. It was a GFCI outlet in an adjacent bathroom. You hit the nail on the head. Many thanks. Craig

Thank you! The outlet I was having trouble with had working outlets on either side of it. After watching your video I found a tripped gfi on the other side of the room. Reset it and now have power to the outlet. Saved me some money, thanks.

Thank you! Outside outlet had quit working, no breaker tripped, no hot wire to the outlet. Yep! Found the dead GFCI breaker in a small bathroom. Didn't even occur to me that it was on the same circuit. So really appreciate the video. Nicely done... clear, well shot and easy to understand! Now a subscriber!

Thank you a ton! I just had an issue with three outlets in my place. They were apart throughout the house and therefore I did not think they would have a similar connectivity. Looked at all three and reset every GFCI outlet, or so I thought. Found one in the second floor in a room far away from the other three outlets. It had a red light and sure enough, just needed to reset it and everything started working once again. Thank you much!!

Thank you, thank you! Your advice, particularly about how the gfci was outside your house, helped me find my bad outlet (outside) and fix a problem I’ve been living with inside for 6 months. Your clear explanation gave me confidence to fix.

Thank you so so much!! The outlet for our TV stopped working, which also housed the PS4 and Nintendo Switch. A very important outlet for a family household as you could assume! My mother was so worried we would have to spend a bunch of money to call an electrician, but I thought to look up a video first. I was so worried I would have to go through the hassle of replacing an outlet. Turns out the problem was the GFCI outlet in the living room hiding behind the couch! Thank you so much for helping out my whole family, I'm subscribed now and you'll be hearing from me again when another problem arises!

I had no idea GFCI outlets could be linked from other rooms. Turned out a GFCI outlet had tripped on the opposite side of the house. Super helpful video!
