Many people here asking the interpretation of this song... well generally, I think this is about discontentment in life when she (the narrator/singer/) had pursued other things in life which she thought could bring her real happiness... She thought all of those things she experienced and she had been through could make her happy but actually there are so much in life ---like having family, and finding and knowing what is the essence of life. *"I've been to Georgia and California... I've been to Nice and the isle of Greece... I've been to paradise but never been to me." *The narrator or singer wants to give a sincere message to everyone especially for those people who seem discontented on what they have. In the end, she mentioned... "Sometimes I've been to crying
For unborn children
That might have made me complete..." she realized that having a family, or child is somthng that could make her happy but I think it's too late now for her. I can really say this is indeed a beautiful song which is really relatable and substantial especially nowadays.

literally the essence of a woman is not a materials things and places you have been travelled, a position you have in your life, can made you complete .in time at the right age you will realize that having a family with beautiful kids that the one who complete your missing piece.

one of my fave songs.. I hope not all people will choose to understand the song literally.. it tells about two women, one who is not happy as a mom/wife and one who regrets choosing being free..both felt incomplete.. i like the part "But I wish someone had talked to me
Like I wanna talk of you"(this phase is for both of them) for me it's a wonderful song that will remind women that being a mom is not your ONLY destiny and choosing being free is a NOT a shame as a woman.

and the "Sometimes I've been to crying
For unborn children
That might have made me complete" does not mean the free one aborted a baby or what, it could mean "possible pregnancy" if ever she chose to be a mom.
