Łódź is the capital of Polish film industry (HollyŁódź). Many famous Polish directors and actors came from there, there is a Museum of Film and Film Academy.

From my experience there are no "no-go" places in Poland. All cities, towns, villages are livable and welcoming. Even if they were unpleasant or spooky in the past, now it's only a urban legend and something which survived in common knowledge.
Personally, I've been in Łódź several times and enjoyed every visit. The city is unique for it's industrial and film making history so if you look at it from this point of view it will never be boring.

I was warned against visiting Łodz because it was an industrial area. So, I went anyway and it is lovely, especially Manufactura. A lot of young people and though there are remnants of the industrial era everywhere, it has been converted and made very people friendly. It is worth visiting Łodz.

Pięknych miast jest co niemiara
Berlin, Praga, Paryż, Rzym,
a nas Łódź urzekła szara,
łódzkich fabryk dym.

Sam nie wiesz kiedy Łódź
schwyciła Cię w swą sieć,
chcesz iść, Łódź woła – wróć!
Tu pracuj, i tu siedź!

O najpiękniejszym z miast
piosenkę z nami nuć,
oczarowała nas
kochana szara Łódź

Miasto fabryk i Tuwima
i rewolucyjnych burz,
gdy Cię Łódź czerwona trzyma
to nie puści już!

Sam nie wiesz kiedy Łódź,
Łodź schwyciła Cię w swą sieć,
chcesz iść Łódź woła – wróć,
tu pracuj i tu siedź.

O najpiękniejszym z miast
piosenkę z nami nuć,
oczarowała nas
kochana szara Łódź..
Pozdro Łódź i Łodzianie..

Thank you for this positive video. I live in Łódź and I really hate unpleasant comments about the city. I realize that it's not the most amazing place in the world, but it's worth looking for those special spots that make the city unique. In general, it's not hard to love Venice or Paris - here in Łódź you need more time to discover its charm but it's definitely worth it.

Łódź is great! I love the post-industrial architecture as well as the beautiful buildings on Piotrkowska and the surrounding streets. Also, the mansions of the industrial age factory owners are gorgeous. For example, Poznanski Palace, right next to Manufaktura, would have been a great place to visit! It is absolutely beautiful outside and inside (Poznanski was the owner of the giant textile factory that houses Manufaktura these days and his palace was quite opulent.)
Btw, you mentioned something about a cinematic feel to the city. Łódź is renowned for its film school. Many famous movie directors, such as Polanski, graduated from Łódź Fim School.

It's amazing that all the places you have visited in Poland so far are somehow related with my past. Łódź is no exception. In your video I can see the new face of the places I used to know 25-30 years ago... I'm particularly amazed with Księży Młyn. Living few months not very far from that location in the 1990s, I can't believe how great it looks now. After watching this video I'm putting Łódź on my places to visit list, when I'm in Poland again.
Can't wait for your next videos.

Pozdrawiam i życzę miłego odkrywania Polski 😃

As a Canadian living in Łódź for the past 6 years, I say thank you for coming to this city, I agree that Łódź is a underrated city, however it can also be very depressing, we have long winter months. you mentioned the first 4 days you where in the city it rained. That is most of the year, so we cannot spend a lot of time out doors because of the rain/snow/cold weather. We have two small children so going to play outside most of the year is not possible. Plus in the winter it gets dark by 15:30 and the sun starts to raise around 07:30 so it can get quite depressing in that time, but, we love the city.

I'd say it's nice city. Train station in Lodz in my opinion is one of nicest in Europe. Many buildings needs face lift, so do buildings in any other cities, towns allover in every country.

I visited Lodz back in April, and I really liked the city. I felt safe, and the people I interacted with were very friendly. I visited the city because I'm interested in its history, but there are many things today that also make the city great.

There are many old buildings in the city that look run down and like they're in the "bad part of town, " but I didn't run into any problems when I explored some of the areas with the old buildings. Some of these buildings that are still standing were actually once part of the Lodz Ghetto, where Jews were forced to live during the Nazi occupation.

Lodz is a hidden gem in Poland with different unique features. I definitely plan on returning there in the future and would highly recommend it to anyone who visits Poland.
