Some history of the song- Written in 1934, 'Summertime' was one of the first compositions George Gershwin worked on for his brand-new opera Porgy and Bess. The jazz-inspired song is a lullaby for Clara to sing to her child, and it is reprised several more times throughout the opera.

Like the standing ovation., Billy Stewart was a magnificent singer gone way too soon ...You need to hear his cover of Secret Love..He has some great popular love ballads, Sitting In the Park, I Do Love You. & Cross My Heart...Billy is so underrated as far as being acknowledge..People are remarking, similar to you, "How come I've never this/him before"? Billy was one of the best vocalists ever.
