sounds selfish but it's very true. don't keep people that are bad for your mental health in your life. had to cut out 5 people out of my life even tho i loved them so much because they were fetishizing the hell out of me, talking and laughing behind my back. i don't need their bad energy, i'm thriving on my own, getting good grades, living my best life.

I will readily admit that surrounding yourself with those who have nothing to offer in terms of expansion and growth then you pretty much stay there on that level with them. Sad but true. I sit alone at home a lot now but I feel much more fulfilled knowing that I am growing friendships that are beneficial! Edited to say that I really needed to hear this powerful message right at this moment!

I have mixed feelings about this. On one hand, yes, you should always aim for the best. And there are some things you should absolutely NEVER settle for. (Domestic abuse, etc.). However, I sometimes find the quote “ never settle “ misleading, because the truth is you can never find a mate that matches 100 percent of your expectations all the time, that is impossible. We are all human, and we all have bad days. So I think there is danger in taking the quote “Never settle “ literally. Of course aim for your best ; but if you never expect to be disappointed or have to make compromises within a relationship, you are going to be very lonely, because there isn’t a single relationship ( friendship or romantic) that doesn’t require conflict or compromise. I think a more practical solution is to draw boundaries of what is crossing the line of more than what you are willing to settle for.
