🐝Mite treatment and removing Queen excluders! 🐝👑(Hive maintenance & Varroa mite prevention)

In this episode, John installs mite treatment strips (Apistan) in the hive to help rid the young bees of the pesky Varroa mite. He also removes the Queen excluders so the bees don't starve over the winter while trying to stay with her. General hive maintenance for the beginner beekeeper AND the professional apiarist.

Queen excluders are used as a barrier inside the hive to allow worker bees to pass, but not the larger bees like Queens and drones. This limits the queen's access to the honey supers, which makes for cleaner honey while she lays her brood.

Great video, hell i thought Apistan went out with the Romans.When you mentioned ants being stressful on the hive i thought yea absolutely, causes. smaller hives /queen less, to collapse also contrbutes to starting brood disease, I’m constantly at war with the suckers, cinnamon on inner cover is good, diatemetious earth around blocks also good terro ant traps, oil wells on legs etc etc .They don’t mess to much with healthy young Queen’s though, anyway good luck
