Played trumpet in this in a wind band arrangement over forty years ago. Can still remember to this day the feeling when the low brass come in at 4:56. This is what trombones were invented for.

I remember playing this in high school band off and on from 1970-1974. I still remember what the flute parts sounded like although I haven't played on MANY years. What fond memories. Leroy Anderson had a knack for writing novelty arrangements. ❤

Oh BEAUTIFUL ! We played this in high school band long ago and I could never play the end properly because by that time I was literally weeping with the joy and excitement of the music. Just like I did listening to this !❤

This is one of the best arrangements of Christmas music for band and orchestra alike. Sadly, few actually play it to show the excitement of the music and the arrangement. If played properly, you will hear the trumpets high and bright and the low brass really punctuating the articulations and with more volume, especially toward the end. I played in the 440th Army Band and we had a killer brass section. The woodwinds were some of the most capable players I knew and worked with also. We always blew this piece away every Christmas concert.
