Real programmers use butterflies to create disturbances in the atmosphere to focus cosmic rays flipping precisely the bit in memory they are targeting.

Fun fact: Electron was originally called Atom's Shell. It wasn't Atom that used Electron, it was vice versa, Electron was developed exclusively as part of Atom.

Brackets is sacred to me. I still remember my first day on the programming course I showed interest in while in 4th grade. I was struggling to install Brackets and one of the tutors had to help me.

I haven’t used Brackets in so long but it’ll always have a special place with me. The first editor I used when getting into development.

I use VS Code, BUT I also still use TextPad (not Notepad) a lot, one of my very first editors. I like TextPad because it opens very quickly and most importantly it can handle very large files. For file extensions like php, js, css, etc. I have TextPad set as the default program so that double-clicking opens the file in TextPad. I also have TextPad set as the default editor in FileZilla. So when I'm working on a project I usually use VS Code, but when I'm only interested in individual files I use TextPad.

Ultra Edit... I've been using it since the 90s and still love it. They come out with an update every year or so

My first was Sublime text. I accidentally discovered it had code highlighting and was instantly hooked. Later moved on to Brackets, Atom and finally VS Code. I still use sublime sometimes, there's just something soothing about a text editor that IDE's can't match imo.

Sometimes I miss the Borland Turbo C++ IDE for MSDOS. And Quickbasic before that.

Brackets was a godsend when it first came out. The ability to live preview changes is taken for granted these days, but holy cow was I absolutely *flying* when I had to do frontend work for clients. Hate adobe, but that was a great product

I still use TextMate, and most IDEs nowadays actually accept TextMate bundles as addons/plugins.

I loved using Brackets and Atom during college, I’m getting back into programming and it’s sad to see them gone

I still used Brackets and prefer over VS Code because it has some interesting features already shipped with installer, so you don't have to download extensions for common requirements that aren't available in other Editors till date. 🙂

Honestly speaking, I just use VS Code when I need to find and replace bunch of lines together in multiple files, instead I open Brackets at my day start till day end. 😅

FYI, Phoenix Code took over the full time development of Brackets in 2021 onwards results in Brackets Continue and PH Code Editor supporting all Operating Systems.

I'm so happy, *Brackets still Alive*. 😁

Non-obsolete editor: GNU Emacs. I use it with doom emacs and LSP integration.
