This is a short BONUS VIDEO this week of a road trip that Christine "This Girl Hikes" (channel Link below) and I did on our way from Utah to backpack the Weminuche Wilderness in Colorado. We passed through Durango Colorado and explored a bit doing a 5 mile day hike just outside of town. It was my first time visiting Durango. Tune in on Sunday 6/21/2020 for the video of our Multi Day backpacking trip and the reason we traveled to Colorado!! :)

Nice short video of Durango. Great little Mtn Biking town. Went thru there many years ago on a trip to Moab by way of Silverton and Ouray. We had a 5th wheel RV towed by a F250 Super Duty Diesel. I was stared down by a girl in a Subaru with a scarf covering her face while filling up my diesel truck at a gas station. I have nothing against people driving Subarus but why stare me down. I have family and friends that have Subarus and diesel trucks, ranchers, outdoor people!!
I hope you have a great trip. Look forward to seeing more. maybe it was California Plates??? No.... I think it was the diesel. Take care Cat!!

Welcome to my neck of the woods! I live in Colorado and love the area you’re visiting. The entire western slope is a gem.

We were going to retire in Durango, but chose the lowcountry of South Carolina instead. Two beautiful spots. One thing that's great about the West is that you can always find a nice place to hike in our public lands.

I had a friend from college, Steve, who was born & raised in Cripple Creek, CO (above Colorado Springs). It's an old gold mining town over 10k foot elevation. His family owned the Imperial Hotel & would put on 1890's reviews in the summers using performing arts students from colleges around the country. Many notable names from the entertainment industry would attend and sign hats they displayed around the auditorium. Steve made custom jewelry in a street level corner section of the hotel. He was a great friend and talented designer and artisan but gone now due to pancreatic cancer. We had several great visits there in the years after graduation. His is greatly missed!
