Ford about ten years ago came out with the Focus and Fiesta ST and created an entire new hot hatch rivalry in the United States. However with those vehicles gone, Ford built the Explorer ST - a jack of all trades family SUV that just so happened to be the fastest vehicle ever in the ST lineup. With a built transmission, a tune by ZFG, and big turbos - this is one crazy grocery getter. So is this a great alternative to a Jeep Trackhawk and Durango SRT? Let's talk about it.

I own a 21. It's been the most fun family car I've ever driven. This thing is amazing at road trips and jaw dropping mustang owners. It will massage your butt with adaptive cruise control and lane centering going at 100mph. Best sub 100k family car, period.

I used to be a ford tech and in class the teacher said ford engineers squeezed out 700hp out of the 3.5 before the turbos blew, that was in 2011 lol crazy to see them pushing these numbers on stock block reliably

Damn, making me question my 17 X5M purchase from December. I wouldn’t go full blown new turbos and all for 700 whp but the idea of a newer vehicle with easy bolt ons, a tune, and cheaper maintenance sounds like a dream 😂

I was a ford technician and I wanted to say that the stock transmissions shift equally as aggressive. It feels like a DCT from factory.

The wife and I just purchased our first ST in April. We could not be happier! Even at 400hp it rips. My wife said she tried passing someone in sport mode and it totally caught her by surprise. She was shocked how fast it happened. 😅 I'm already looking forward to upgrades!

Long time Chevy guy. 03 Silverado 6.0 swapped and Nitrouse, then 07 TBSS cammed and full bolt on. Both daily drivers. Took a few years off from burnout and financial strain. In 16 ai was in the market for a truck and researched "fast" production trucks and came across the EBs. Got a steal on a 2.7 and tuned it at 8k miles and full bolt on and Stage 3 turbos around 14k miles. I just traded it in at 131k miles and had zero issues. Obviously i beat on it.. thats the whole point. Picked up a F250 6.7HO but talked my wife into a 25 ST. Yeah its on she just doesnt know. Great setups!
