Children may refuse extracurricular activities with their parents for various reasons. It could be their way of seeking attention, reassurance, or a stronger emotional connection with their parents. Some parents will attend extracurricular activities but spend the entire time on their devices. Children may sense this and feel rejected. Even 5 minutes of authentic and engaged one-on-one time with a child can help to repair parent-child relationships.

This is so accurate the only exception I can think of is if the kid really loves or is good at the sport I used to not care about my mom coming to most things for that reason but I did shotput 1 year and was one of the best in the state and it kinda hurt a little inside being the only one there with nobody watching she came to the championship meet and was like shocked and so happy and was one of the proudest moments I had because I not only won I blew everyone out of the water to the point where I was warming up and everyone knew I won

That’s actually so true 😂😭they do things to “be a good mom” just to have things to say they did and not actually for their kid which is messed up, like buying the kid expensive outfits when they like something else just for adult cred has always been weird we noticed that in high school about certain parents
