I've had mint mobile for a couple months (switched from verizon) On my 12 hr rides to west Texas I haven't noticed and real change in my service....except the much lower cost. I love mint so far

A bit late to the game, but I think it's worth mentioning that "lack of a family plan" isn't a bad thing when the primary reason to get one is for a discount, but switching to Mint is already a bigger discount.

We switched years ago from Tmobile to Mint and never looked back. We noticed no differences at all. One our best buying decisions ever.

I used mint mobile from 2018 to 2021 and it was absolutely AMAZING I am not exaggerating when I tell you I have NEVER had one single problem for the entire 3 years I was with them. The only reason why I switched was because I fell on hard times and couldnt afford the bulk price.

That 10gb situation seems shady af, but this has enticed me to give it a try. Rummaging through these comments should help me decided whether to go with Mint or another MVNO. I'm at 80/mo with Verizon and it NEVER comes out to just $80, man. It's fucking ridiculous.

I've had mint for a few months and have noticed no difference at all. With AT&T I was paying about $120.00 a month with mint I pay that same amount for every 3 months ! It's been a life saver since I'm in nursing school and barely have time to work 40 hours at work anymore.

To update - Netflix is not blocked on any of the plans but resolution is capped to 480p on the unlimited plan. Some users have been able to bypass this restriction using a VPN. (Speeds btw are throttled down to 2G after 35GB of use on the unlimited plan.)

I am in my first year with Mint and haven't noticed any data 'leakage' and don't use any more than I did with AT&T. My friend who took the plunge with me has a phone they use for work it never leaves the building or goes off wi-fi and on a 4gb plan they literally have 3.9gb left. I think the date issue is most likely phone related

I have had mint mobile the past 6 months and learned the hard way that the "unlimited" plan ISN'T fyukn unlimited!!!!
After 35gb they throttle you to 3g!! Basically giving you mid 2000s speeds.

It's only cost effective if you're also using wifi most of the time if not all of the time and not really using your cell phone that much for GPS.

If you're 100% on your phone all the time w/no wifi access you'll piss through 35gb quick.
One month I hit 46gb and those 12gb I went over the cap was especially slow and brutal.

You can buy more data but they'll rape your pockets. Its like $15 for 5gb or $20 for 10gb.
If you start buying data that really eats into your savings so buyer beware.

I'm going to guess that your mystery data consumption is related to apps - particularly Google. When I was activating my new phone, I noticed in the set up that Google had defaults that would allow them to constantly send and receive receive information from my new phone - if I allowed it; I would suggest switching all of these that you can to the "off" position. Besides these being entirely invasive and an disgusting invasion of privacy, I would guess that this is probably one of the most significant causes of your (invisibly) depleted data usage, despite your own, actual low usage... and I would further suggest you inspect the setup of any and all other apps you may have installed on your device.

I have been using Mint Mobile for going on 3 years now. I have myself, my daughter, my mother and father, my goddaughter and her grandmother all on Mint Mobile. I have yet to have a problem that restarting the phone didn't fix and that has only come up 2 maybe 3 times across all 6 phones and 3 years. I can't say enough good things about it. The cost of these numbers compared to our old AT&T is less then half the price and I have yet to ever not have a signal. There have been a couple of places where signal was week, but I have never not had a signal.

It is so cheep I upped my data and now use my phone as back up internet access for home. Our internet doesn't go out often, just often enough that it's nice to have an inexpensive insurance policy in the form of my mobile connection. If your consider trying Mint, I strongly suggest you give it a go.

I'm at the end of 3 months on Mint Mobile and the deprioritization in various parts of San Diego have been horrible when using Google navigation and streaming Spotify at the same time. I passed through the same areas last month using the same apps and same phone and still got LTE. Now the same areas drop to Edge speeds.
UPDATE: I now have a phone with 5g and have no more of the issues above. 5g appears to take the place of what were 2g areas.

I switched my mother's carrier from Verizon (she was a customer for almost 30 years) to Mint Mobile. Mint mobile customer service was very rude and disrespectful. They sent me a new SIM card for my new, unlocked cellphone. When I got this new SIM card, we wanted my mother's Verizon number instead of the new, temp Mint Mobile number. This was an issue for over a month. Most of Mints employees acted like the problem was with me or the cellphone. FINALLY, I smart tech operator told me that the first SIM card they sent us was faulty. and Mint mobile sent a replacement free.
I was not happy with the rude customer service at Mint Mobile. They service seems to be better than Verizon though. -

Transferring from Ting to Mint mobile is taking longer than 48 hours. They gave me a temporary number, which means they expect this problem. It becomes an issue because security set ups on banks and other always send a text to the phone number on file. So anyone transferring a number to Mint mobile make sure you have several days where you are not going to have incoming calls to the number you are transferring.

I have a second phone I use for gaming and I used to have Mint. I don't need phone and texting -- just data. Mint was fine. It just had stuff I don't need for that second phone. I ended up getting a data-only plan for $10 a month from Tello.
Now, I am in Texas and when we had our big freeze blackout, everyone in our house lost access to the local AT&T cell towers. Luckily, the Tello plan includes free hotspot service. My second phone allowed my wife and I to stay in touch with the outside world, during that crazy few days.

I have had Mint Mobile going on 2 years. The data usage seems to be only cellular usage because during a month Mint recognizes the use about 25 gig but there was one month where 35 gig was exceeded. I am NEVER in airplane mode but always in WIFI calling mode at the house so I believe it knows its using data from the WIFI system rather than the cellular data.

The 480p video restriction is only when you get the unlimited plan, that’s why I changed my plan to the 15gb a month which work better for video streaming.

I'm on visible. My only complaint w/ them. Is how the data drops in and out at times. Especially w/ a esim. But not too shabby for 25 a month.

I switched to mint after realizing T-mobile and AT&T are liars (bait n switch/hidden fees) Love the service... love the price.
