Parkas are the best for winter, they are my go to coat when it comes to very cold weather. In this video I go over everything you guys need to know about the parka, we go over history, characteristics, fit and styling.
History:
The parka was born by the Inuit people in northern Canada in the artic. It was necessary to have a heavy coat with a hood. This was then picked up by the military and then brought into pop culture in the 50's and 60's.
Characteristic of the Parka:
Pockets, the parka has patch pockets on the bottom and sometimes may have others.
Zipper close or button and usually a double zip.
Fur Lined Hood: Probably its most noticeable characteristic sometimes you can take these off.
Insulation inside the parka to keep you warm.
Fit:
The parka is pretty easy to wear however just like everything else sometimes people do it wrong. Here are 3 things that have to fit on the parka:
The shoulders
Length of sleeves
Length of coat
Styling:
Now as far as styling goes, this coat can go a variety of ways. In this video you will see a more dapper look and a casual look.
