In this video you can learn a little about springtails. The footage I captured was of several globular springtails in their natural environment, with a few clips taken in a more controlled setup with more optimal lighting.

Also check out Tim Jonas's gallery here with some amazing images of collembolans:

So nice when a Youtuber accommodates my latest obsession. LOL! With the cold rapidly approaching here in Wisconsin, I've been searching for ideas of what to shoot when the bugs are gone. I found out these are around during the winter and have been reading up on them. Haven't had a chance to get out and look, yet, but I'm excited to try. Thanks for the video. I'm amazed at how well you kept focus on such a tiny critter.

Those globular springtails look like little six-legged bunny rabbits - their body shape and their antennae are like rabbit ears, so cute!!

Please make more videos about springtails. I love the close ups. I recently found put about springtails and I wish I knew earlier. Soo many kinds literally everywhere! There are some really really cool ones around the world.

I just found these little guys on the frog bit in my aquarium.
Managed to take a few out and put them in an old beta cup with soil and bark and leaf litter. Threw a couple pieces of frog bit in too since they seem to like it lol

The ability to spring forward in 10ms is INCREDIBLE, especially at speeds of 100Gs! Nature never ceases to amaze me. Fantastic presentation, my friend! I keep waiting to see your work on National Geographic 😃 Thanks for sharing!

Another banger Peter! Great job mate. 👌🏻🎞🎬 I have never seen a Springtail before. The cute looking ones, like these Globular ones you filmed, apparently only occur along our coastline here in South Africa. 🏝 I'll be sure to keep and eye out for them if I'm ever coastside again.😎

I’ve spent a lot of time down on the ground looking at the tiny things… seen many springtails… never seen one ☝️ of these globular ones tho!
I’d definitely have confused it for an insect, long legs with hair, long hairy antennae, obvious visible eyes…

I made an eco jar. Found a week later it's populated by springtails, some mites and a worm named Greg. Everything in there lives in harmony ATM. Keeping an eye on those mites though
