”For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive in the Spirit. After being made alive, he went and made proclamation to the imprisoned spirits— to those who were disobedient long ago when God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ark was being built. In it only a few people, eight in all, were saved through water, and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also—not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a clear conscience toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ,“

Before Jesus Christ death it was old testament for He had not shed His blood for the new testament. After He died and shed His blood there is no water baptism needed to get salvation. Ephesians 1:13-14 and Ephesians 2: 8- 9

1) John 3: 1-4 we must be born again. Why? Roman's 5: 12 -19 due to original sin
2) John 1:29 Jesus came to take away the sin of the world. Problem for man is one sin thro Adam
3) How to be born again? 1st Corinthians 15: 1- 4 thro the gospel of Salvation
4) Ephesians 1:13 we must believe on the gospel of salvation.
5) Ephesians 2: 8 - 9 Salvation is not based on our good works.
6) Roman's 6:23 wages of sin is death, therefore Christ died on your behalf to pay a spiritual debt you inherited
7) Romans 10:17 since we are spiritually dead we are incapable of having faith, therefore faith is as a result of hearing the true word of God
8) Roman 10:9 the conclusion of what will happen once your heart believes

So when it says, “preached to the spirits in prison.” Is that referring to hell? Very curious because there are so many that believe Jesus descended first into hell, preached the gospel then ascended to the Father but there is not much scriptural evidence… that I am aware of anyway… that is why there is a whole other camp that disagrees….
