Why do people find so many striking similarities between these two ancient disciplines? Did Alexander the Great's invasion of India lead to a revolution in philosophical thought? Only the sharpest of historical analysis can show us the truth.

Thank you all for watching. The correct definition for "syncretism" at 1:03 is: the amalgamation or attempted amalgamation of different religions, cultures, or schools of thought.

I had that in there originally but accidentally overwrote it in the final edit. Peace and love to all.

The spirit of Bodhisattva has been the driving force behind my retirement journey.
I have found a real connection between Buddhism and Stoicism.
I appreciate your video and thank you for

Corey, this is great work. I have linked all of the material from antiquity together in this same manner. What I find is a template based on the sequence of a humans life, how we come about and how we interact with our memories to change our life for the better. That is Stoic philosophy alright. Personal psychology hidden in works, religions, spiritual teachings and philosophies, all wrapped around one core teaching. It's a confusing topic. It's huge. I can link Buddha, Lao Tzu, Moses, Greek Myth. Even this 500 year recent connection from Romans and Welsh works. Christianity is on this same template. Myth and religions are all on this conceptual template that is hard to see.

1. Jesus was 'called' as the only son of God, had 'supernatural powers, ' traveled with 'handpicked disciples' and seeks the 'Kingdom of heaven within.'
2. Arthur was 'called' as the only one who could get Excalibur, had Merlin for 'supernatural powers, ' traveled with 'handpicked Knights' and seeks 'The Holy Grail.'

I can get that from Enoch, The Bhaggavad Gita and anywhere else it is hidden. I have learned their secrets of hiding the one stoic truth in material meant for the masses. But it is now broken. Abrahamic religion took a horrible turn under the Romans. They turned it right back into a idol worship religion.

I noticed the connection myself in study. This video is seamless all around. I think that was one of the best videos I’ve seen one youtube in long time. Great work my friend.

I really like the stoic approach, though I have to say that as someone who's kind of an idealist, I really struggle with how to feel about the emphasis on not worrying about things you can't control. Should we really all just look inwards and ignore things beyond our control? It sounds a lot like giving up sometimes. Maybe there's some kind of perfect mindset these philosophies are chasing where you can both feel no attachment to things, but still apply yourself to the greater good. I'm not sure I believe that exists, though. It's an interesting thought experiment: if everyone was enlightened, would that make everyone fundamentally selfish? Would the tribe fall apart because of it?

I have observed this connection for a long time. I would suggest connecting it to Cognitive Bhavior Therapy as well... All three are seem rooted in the same ideas.

What does our evolutionary psychology have to do with Stoicism and Buddhism?

I adore the study of evolution, was really looking forward to hearing where you were going with that. But then you kind of just dropped it.

I think there is a philosophy behind that.

Perhaps the constant reminding that you are feeling this way because of your evolutionary ancestors.

Angry in traffic? It’s because your ancestors survived by being rageful in caveman times.

Oh and Daoism is cool. But it’s also got some weird stuff.

Like losing life force by ejaculating and therefore men shouldn’t do that.
Which science doesn’t support in the slightest.

I’m a big supporter of living in accordance with ACTUAL nature and science.
