Issue when using COUNTIFS on closed workbooks it doesn't work. Also I have heard to utilize =SUMPRODUCT, but with the criteria I need for the countifs sumproduct doesn work, seems wayyyy over complicated. I am trying to count date ranges . Weekly, count how many dates per week, then another critiera such as if the patient was actually scheduled or not (2rd criteria) this excludes our canceled patients. So simple right? NOT! HAve to be able to count when workbook is closed.

Since you working with currency, do you need ro round to the penny each year? What would be the difference in dollars after 25 years or rows?

You can simplify your formula to NOT use COUNTIFS! =IF(B4=B3, TRUE, FALSE) will give you the same array of TRUE and FALSE.
