★ NOTE ON SOURCING IN CAPTIONS:
At the end of a sentence with sourcing, something like this will appear:
"The sky is blue. The ocean is blue (17,89)."
In this example, the 1st number represents the source # from the source list in this description. The 2nd number represents the page number, if the source is a book. If the numbers are separated by a semicolon ie (2;3), the numbers represent two different sources.

It's amazing to me how little consideration was given to public interest in this case. The Court essentially brought up hypothetical things that never really happened, in order to elevate the Presidency to an office above the law, and was totally not motivated by short term, nakedly partisan considerations at all. Of course not.

Ah yes, we Americans really need a President even MORE divorced from accountability to the law, because Presidents are famously so persecuted and "encumbered" by the possibility of criminal prosecution.

Enjoying the video, but as a cat person I can’t help but be distracted by your friend’s ever-changing stations of repose.

In re Guantanamo Bay it's worth noting the base dates back long before the war on terror

While I agree that expansion of presidential power is a historical precedent, always has been doesn't necessarily mean should be

There's that episode of the West Wing where they're helping some other country write a constitution and they say not to use the US's because the President can easily become a dictator lol

Man its wild how a nation that took up arms over taxes can so easily turn around & kneel over in a matter so out in the open & so blatant. Scary tbh

Why is it problematic to think of statecraft as evolutionary?

Congress also likes to abdicate responsibility

We did find a war against the king, No taxation without representation, at a time when it would take about 3 months or something like that to sail across the ocean, have a deal addressed, and then sail back... That's a problem. If you were to have a king in your own country, or in your own region / state, well that solves that. There been plenty of times where kings did not accept the responsibility of looking over their kingdom, and the people boogalooed. Fear of this happening really keeps things in order.

Great video William! Puts it into context. Future historians would be silly to try tell the tale of our current situation without this context

Heck, we might end up with a "President" who would use his executive power to imprison his opponent.
But.... nah. That would never happen.
Too bad you didn't actually discuss the SCOTUS opinion and the limits imposed on the President by separation of powers and the Constitution in general. Why bother? People might learn something and we wouldn't want that.
ps. Trust me. Debate and snarky commentary is good for your channel. :-)
