The Vice President is also the President of the Senate.

Basically, the Vice President is an empty suite.He/she can only advise and break a tie in the Senate. Otherwise, he/she has no power to do anything. SO give her a break.

The role of the vice president is to break a tie on the supreme court nominee announce the winner of a election and so the president can dump all his ceremonial roles onto the vice president who is already a very ceremonial thing

By the 1920s, the role of the vice president transitioned to more of an executive branch
function. President Warren Harding set a precedent by inviting his vice president, Calvin Coolidge, to cabinet meetings on a regular basis.
John Nance Garner, Franklin Roosevelt's first vice president, also attended cabinet meetings at the president's request and travelled abroad to represent Roosevelt. Soon, vice presidents were deployed by sitting presidents as advocates and ambassadors domestically and globally, and also as presidential campaign Surrogate.

Out of those 14 veeps who made it to the White House, only 5 got there without the death or resignation of the president. Most veeps ended with a ruined career in politics.
