Here is how he does it.

You might have noted that he gets the name when there is 2+ people. To explain how he does it, I'll call him person A and the person being pranked will be person B. Once B gets connected with A on omegle, person's A camera does not show his face immediately but he plays the searching animation by omegle. This is similar to animation in 3:15 . Person B will assume that omegle is still searching for a person to connect while in fact they have already been connected. Person A starts listening to the conversation B is having with their friends. He waits until he learns the name of at least one person. Once he has the name, he then removes the fake searching animation, and person B thinks that they have just been connected which is not the case. He can then call their name and amaze them.

After the jumpscare, he plays the searching animation again. Person B, thinks that they have been disconnected and that omegle is connecting them with another person. After few seconds he removes the animation and person B thinks that they have been connected to A again as seen in 3:26
