SpaceMouse Enterprise and the 3Dconnexion lineup

My only essential accessory for CAD modeling is my SpaceMouse. Add the two-piece Keyboard Pro and the regular CadMouse to complete the set. I love the wireless travel kit for when I'm on the road and need some quick CAD work on my laptop with the SpaceMouse wireless and the 2D mouse. I create my designs using Fusion 360 which is CAD software.

I have now for about 9 months experience with the space mouse pro and cadmouse pro and I can't really design things without them anymore😂

Oh man, I had one of those two button ones when I was learning CAD/CAM in college like 18 years ago. I don't even think it was caled the SpaceMouse back then. I bought it on a whim in the store at the old Apple HQ and am so glad I did. I genuinely have a hard time using 3D software without one now. I was the only one in the program to use one, even the professor had never seen one before so they all gave me weird looks. Joke's on them because they seem a whole lot more common now.

Wow, moving on the 3D space is super smooth and cool!!! Nice gift, Mihai! I need to check their left-hand mouse (I've used mice at the left all my life, even though I am right-handed, it is useful to have my right hand free to type on the keyboard, or write with a pen, without ever taking my left hand from the mouse). Oh, I use a DVORAK layout keyboard too... I am weird.

I use my SpaceBall 5000 USB (predecessor to the SpaceMouse by the same company) with FreeCAD regularly and love it!
Note that 3DConnexion/Logitech refused to release drivers for newer versions of windows, so only get (a used) one if you run your CAD on Linux.

I have always found that the virtual numpad, found in the 3D Connexion software, along with radial menus to be everything I need in terms of buttons.
So I mostly never have to leave my 3d mouse or "2D" mouse, to go to another device.

I guess 3Dconnexion has a patent on the 3d mouse, because I've been looking for alternatives for a while with no luck. The 3Dconnexion stuff is great, just expensive.

I like my 3Dconnexion, but their drivers give me interesting issues. Certain games randomly see the space mouse as an input and mix it with my gamepad as inputs in games, so it adds a persistent drift. Some VR games pick it up and scroll internal settings menus at a rate you can't fight with, annoying to always be unplugging it or using 'msconfig' to disable drivers at start, etc. Also it rotates exactly how I want it to in software like freecad, but in blender I haven't been able to make it work the same, aside from one time then it stopped acting like that after a restart, lol.. but that's software and mine is old.
