'Islamic mythology'... how much I love this term. I really hope that one day it's becoming normal to speak of a mythology when it comes to Islam...

It's amaizing how respectful, calm and softspoken you are towards Islam, I find it really hard to do so after leaving it.

Morality is something that evolves based on the information we are able to gather throughout history. F.e while abrahamic religions view homosexuality as a sin, we are now able to conclude that homosexual relationships cause no harm either to society or the individuals in the relationship- actually denying ones sexuality can cause longterm psychological harm/mental illnesses. We also know that homosexuality is not caused by demons/the devil but mostly stems from genetics therefore homosexuality can't be easily "cured" by the believe in God.
Its funny how religious people say " Well (insert horrific thing) used to be normal back in the days but today we view it as morally wrong. What if in a few generations our moral system changes again." - as if thats a bad thing. Hopefully we change our behaviours and perspective based on newly discovered knowlegde and current circumstances. Thats a way better alternative than causing harm simply because thats how people did it back then as well. Humans greatest strength is the ability to adapt.

Why is Islamic “morality” only about sexuality? What about not stealing from people you have conquered. Why is taking mal-ul-ghanima or booty (stolen goods) from conquered non Muslims not considered immoral?

Allah doesn't know definition of human right and racism. Jizyah, apostacy/blasphemy penalties and surah 98:6 are proving this.

Thanks for this. It never occurred to me that humans just codified in religion the rules that they already figured out. Very cool insight. Big, “Of course!” moment here.

As an aside, lived in a big cousin marriage culture for many years. It seemed as though there were more developmental issues with the kids than back in the U.S. Dunno

Islam relies on the theory of divine god command to justify its morals, but in the face of Euthyphro’s
dilemma, it is completely destroyed

A lot of practices (not all) that are a culture's traditions exist because back then it was practical to do so.

Best example, the ban on pig meat, pigs could have a parasite that if a person ingested would result in death. Rome also avoided water and drank wine instead for similar reasons to my knowledge

The last thing on Muhammad's mind was morality

The prohibition of pork was based on what people knew and felt: it tastes funny, and tummy goes bad.

Furthermore, blindly following rules set by a Creator isn't a moral system anyways. It is just obedience.

Oughts without reasoning is just obedience and not a moral system. Moral systems are always justified and not just "because X said so".

Sometimes, humanity deemed things as wrong, which religion overturned.

I would say informed consent is the biggest sticking point, the inabbility to determine power dynamic as peers is really unhealthy

A biological father can marry her biological daughter if she was born out of wedlock and didn’t marry the mother. If he did, he couldn’t be her wali too. That’s Islam.

💯 There are many morals debates that don't appear in Islamic scriptures so It seems like islam doesn't answer all moral dilemmas anyways ... 🤷‍♀️

Morality is a continuously evolving concept (although the fundamental concepts remain the same), as time passes, we become more empathetic and logical getting more clearer understanding of those concepts. Whats considered ethical about 1000 years ago might be considered the vilest of an Act now. One thing thats stopping this evolution is following outdated Religious texts in the name of it being perfect for all times, but justifying it using historical contexts, which is totally hypocritical. What we can do is understand those laws were for that time, update our understanding, while also noting those are not for all times nor perfect.

Cain and Abel.
Qaabeel and Haabeel.
In the bible the offering was in gratitude..nothing to do with a marriage if I remember correctly.
Seems it's always about sex in the quran.
The quran is a twisted plagiarism of the Talmud and the Bible. IMO
