As an Ethiopian that was also born there, I know that this is common where families will give their kids up for adoption so they can go have a better life. Orphanages, usually with agreement of birth parents, will say the parents have passed away to give them “a better chance” for adoption. They expect they’re giving the kids up just to be raised there and that miraculously the kids will come back and claim their biological parents and help them financially completely forgetting they spent most of their life in the West and with parents who actually raised them lol. So years after the kids are grown and possibly successful, birth parents show up out of no where saying they’re still alive. This has happened with family friends whose kids were adopted and moved to Australia. This has also happened with an adopted Ethiopian friend here in Canada. A couple I know in Sweden where the wife was adopted from Ethiopia. And many others. Some cases the kids will help out of pity maybe do what they can but not as much as the birth parents were expecting. I’d take this with a grain of salt.

Everyone has the right to know where they are from. The mother did a great thing giving her up for adoption because she knew she couldn't take care of her daughter. She made a good decision that benefited her daughter greatly. What a brave woman. I pray the 2 of you reconcile. I am sure that girl is more thankful towards the mother's decision rather than hurt by it. Very few kids make it through the poverty of Ethiopia.

As an African I would say this is typical behavior with some African parents. They give birth to children they can’t take care of the kids. Some of them choose not to work hard to take care of the kids. As soon as the kids are grown and start making money they show up saying I gave birth to you expecting the kids to work and take care of them. Yet, when the kids were young and needed taking care of the parents were no where to be seen. Often leaving other family members to struggle with their children. They will be the ones shouting loudly they birthed the children. So what? You birthed a child and did not care of that child. That child don’t owe you nothing. I always said I will tell my nieces not to struggle taking care of their parents because I am the one that struggled paying for their food, education and schooling. And I don’t need anything from them. I just want them to have a better life.

If true Zahara biological mom said she was raped by a man who broke into her grandmother house while she was visiting. She do not know who the father was..got pregnant..told her parents who abandoned her. Lil Zahara barely had food so her mom did not want her to live in poverty. She didn't want to give her up but she wanted the best for Zahara. You can see the hurt in Zahara's biological mom eyes.Hopefully one day Zahara will have a relationship with her biological mom and well as Angelina. She look just like her and I tend to believe this story ecause the father haven't shown his face. She said she didnt want money but only to hear her daughter voice.
