Emerging Global Trends in Generative AI

Since the launch of OpenAI’s ChatGPT in late 2022, generative AI (GenAI) technology has been advancing at a rapid pace. GenAI has the potential to influence and add enormous value across the global economy, generating productivity and augmenting imagination. Its impact to consumers, business, industries and society could be profound. Managing the challenges and opportunities associated with GenAI will be important: the human element, the evolving regulatory environment and how to harness AI in a trusted manner, as well as understanding the implications for the workforce and future of work.

As the world grapples to understand the technology’s power, reach, and capabilities, Chris Tang and Terry Kramer, faculty directors of UCLA Anderson’s Center for Global Management (CGM) and Easton Technology Management Center, addressed the latest developments and emerging trends in GenAI. They provided use cases to demonstrate the effect of data and AI on traditional industries, whether resulting in enhanced outcomes, new product and service offerings, or changes in competitive positioning.
