The reason there were more hip drop tackles was because all these other rules. How else are you supposed to tackle a player without getting a flag

The hip drop tackle comes from players adapting from not being able to lead with their helmets

If you claim you're all about player safety, then, ban turf. The single biggest contributor to devastating injuries. FoH.

You cant hit receivers no more

You can hit qb no more

Now you can even suplex mfs no more 😢

Nfl wants more points on the board and stronger running game. Makes sense to make it harder to tackle if that is your goal.

All the time coach Garrett. No one watches this game anymore like they did back in the day

Watch the tape of all the top edge rushers coming out of the draft this year and damn near all of their tackles are hip drop. I just watched Jared Verse's highlights from fsu, and they are all hip drop tackles.

I mean sums are cool for player protection like hitting unguarded receiver whatever it’s called when you hit them and they weren’t ready but banning tackle is hard because there’s only been two. I know Gronk and Tony Pollard that got hurt by this type of tackle that’s off the top of my head, now you want to change it to no one can do this tackle you know how hard it is didn’t make sure someone doesn’t do something they’ve been doing their whole career and everyone has been doing this their whole career from high school. Good luck trying to change the rule because you’re just gonna make it flag football because you’re eventually gonna have to take out all tackling because no one‘s gonna be able to tackle the way you want them to tackle it gonna be a new tackle that needs banned this and that, so unless you just wanna make it flag football this upcoming season remove the rule say we fucked up we’re sorry we know it’s violent sport. We’ll stop being pussies.

Stupid rule, the defense just has way too many potential penalties… It’s getting hard to enjoy a game…

After watching some videos it looks like a hip-drop tackle (HDT) involves grabbing another player, dropping your hip, using your own weight to bring down the offensive player, AND landing on that offensive player’s legs while finishing it. Now if it will be called ONLY when all those criteria are met I suppose I can see it especially with the “landing on the other player’s legs” part. That piece is probably what causes injury as the offensive player’s legs can get trapped and really increases injury risk. But a lot of example I’ve seen involve a player making a tackle from behind. In reality if you’re chasing another player it might be damned near impossible to tackle him from behind without using the HDT. But I wonder what the penalty will be. Fifteen yards? I’m guessing it’s like an unsportsmanlike-conduct or horse-collar penalty.

I have a feeling it will be called very rarely, it is a rare occurance as it is now.

First he stands with the let players tackle but then when Garrett hits you with the reality of it then he backtracks😂

Bring back head hits and we won't have this issue, concussion protocol is 1-2 weeks as opposed to knee/ankle injuries range from 4 weeks to 2 years

Listen. They wanted lifetime healthcare. So of course they're going to try to get money from the players (fines).

So what’s the flag gonna do if they still get injured?

If player safety was suvk a concern, then they would do away with artificial turf and go back to natrual turf. The NFL is weak now. As a player that is getting paid millions you know exactly what risk you run playing the game. You want the gory? Then play. Scared of getting hurt then become a coach.

I don’t really watch football no more because of the woke nonsense . But I will watch opening day to see how it’s going to play out.
