Thank you for not giving us a 30 minute into on the history of pergolas, and just getting right to it! Awesome video Glenn! Thanks.

Hey Glenn, without saying a word, you helped provide me with more tips on woodworking than someone who rambled on for hours about nothing.

This is a beautiful build. Thank you.

I know why it only took 2 days. His wife never came out to ask a thousand questions every couple of hours and questioning if he thought of this or that or why is he doing it this way and not that. Great video.

Only took 2 days because he wasn’t calling all his mates asking to borrow random tools . Actually a very good vid

One of the best DIY video I've seen. Detailed and precise. Plus the material list, just Great!

I’m a carpenter for many years and I love learning something new. Remember you new guys when pricing this add enough for time planning, design, getting materials, and sales and invoicing and profits.

Great job. As I watched you wield a persuader to mate the rafters to the beams, a lesson I've learned when building outdoor projects in the NW came to mind: the end grain shoulders of the notches on the rafters aren't going to dry much when tightly fitted, and they will expand in the wet seasons, slowing crushing the cell walls of the beam while driving in moisture. Even Cedar is subject to rot sooner than you'd think--unless you source old growth. It's tempting to always want to show off precision, but a bit looser fit, consistent of course, will last a lot longer. Alternatively, it pays to take the extra time required to apply end grain preservative, especially on the tenon shoulders, which being horizontal, will trap and hold moisture every time it rains.

I’m gonna make myself look like a badass and copy your job like I thought of it all by myself. Wife will think I’m Superman. Thanks Glenn!

You did an amazing job!!! I bet your wife was very happy with it! I was getting so nervous seeing you clamp numerous boards together and cut them all at the same time. I have done this and made a huge trellis and cutting all the boards at the same time was just too much for me, I kept thinking I would make an error. Mine finally came out great but yours is amazing! Bravo!!

Beautifully done! You know you've done an excellent job/made the right choice when after all is said and done you can't imagine your home without the addition or improvement you've just completed. That pergola belongs there.

You've done an excellent job. It looks beautiful. I cannot wait to show this video to my husband. He promised me he would build me a pergola this summer. I hope mine looks as beautiful as this one.

It’s actually impressive how all the notches just fit. If I were to do it, especially on the second layer of crossmembers, I would have not been able to notch them on the ground and just lay them on so confidently. Great video.
