YouTube Update - 3 Minute #shorts Explained!

I actually spoke to a YouTube representative about this update last week through the live chat feature in YT Studio. Appearntly the 3-Minute shorts feature is being rolled out gradually to different channels over time, and I was told I would recieve access to it "soon". I have no idea when or even if everyone will have access to it, but it definetly is quite disappointing as I, and many others were excited for this new feature.

I've created 2 "long shorts" on day 1 that are still being categorised as long form videos, which is annoying. They are getting shorts feed views though.

It showed up as a long form in my subscription feed - not on the Shorts shelf.

1+ minute shorts will show in the shorts feed immediately, however they can also be seen on the home recommendation page as a “long form” video, showing the thumbnail. This is the case for me at least.

I found it on the home page as a long. I have uploaded a few long/shorts and they performed far worse than both my regular short form content and my regular long form content. I hoped for YT to do some additional recommending for early adopters, but it seems they left us hanging...

I did one too, and it tanked my engagement and thus my being recommended by the algo. Sucks for a new channel that was just starting to pick up steam. I can literally see my short tanking my stats within a day. I guess that happens when you make content your primary long form audience isn't interested in.

Tbf the tall short I tested seems to be fairly consistent on views rather then the boom a short will tend to have

Long format, but try this, take your url and remove "/watch/", replace it for "/shorts/" and post a community post for everyone to comment how they're seeing it. You're welcome 👍
