what annoys me is that i can't look up local fire or police department tweets for any local happenings without creating an account. so fucking dumb

I dont think the platform would die entirely, but its definitely not doing any good in expanding its user base. The number of chatbots, spam and inpersonating accounts have skyrocketed on my feed, trashy ads and the removal of circles was a terrible move. The only good additions were community notes - but the lack of consistency and management in the platform is really letting it down.

Not a Musk fan at all if I’m honest - but what I find interesting is that for my narrow slice of the internet the only thing that has really changed in the past year is the for you page which is much less relevant than ever - but the hobby communities that exists, the general public discourse etc - still exist on Twitter and unless the company goes under soon, it doesn’t feel like any existing competitors really quite fill that gap

Never was a fan and can care less about what he does but what was so jarring to me is that Elon doesn't even know how to run a business properly. I knew for sure Twitter was dead the moment he changed the name. Why would you change a popular name that made it into worldwide vernacular. Hell, the word tweet is in the dictionary. The man is not smart.
