Elder abuse may be defined as a single or repeated act or lack of appropriate action occurring within any relationship where there is an expectation of trust, which causes harm or distress to an older person. People with dementia are at increased risk of elder abuse. Dr Claudia Cooper will discuss her research that identifies how elder abuse is experienced by people with dementia, how common it is, and how it can be reduced.
